Serene Midwifery serves Indianapolis and the surrounding areas with family-centered midwifery care. Pregnancy and childbirth are natural processes and should require minimal intervention in most cases. The best scenario is when the mother and child are supported through trustworthy care from a midwife. The goal is to educate, counsel, and provide primary care for clients as they go through pregnancy and childbirth. Midwifery care can be offered whether you choose a hospital birth or a home birth. The ultimate goal is to support and empower clients to have positive birthing experiences.

Services

Serene Midwifery offers free consultations that are about 45-60 minutes long. Midwifery care is uniquely personalized to each individual’s needs. A consultation gives the client time to ask questions and get a better feel for what midwifery care encompasses. They also provide prenatal care at Serene Midwifery. The midwifery model of care includes comprehensive, holistic prenatal care in a patient’s home or at a midwife’s office. A midwife provides nutrition guidance for wellness during pregnancy. Visits are usually monthly and then increase to every 2 weeks until 36 weeks, and then visits take place in a client’s home.

Patients can give birth within the comfort of their own home as they are supported by a midwife and support people. Being at home can help the natural birthing process and alleviate stress and anxiety. Postpartum visits include on-call care from your midwife for any questions or concerns you might have. The midwife checks in about 24 hours after delivery to make sure mom and baby are doing well. A few days later, the midwife comes to the patient’s home to do the newborn screening and check on the mother. At 1, 3, and 6 weeks postpartum, the mom and baby have visits in the midwife’s office.
